fecund Theatre presents

Under Milk Wood

fecund are curently undertaking a research and development project for a new work
provisionally entitled Muse. The research which has been funded by The Arts Council of
England will culminate in a short public reading of some first draft content for fecund
theatre’s next production “MUSE”

The premise
Muse: a moment of chemistry or connection when a person, force or desire triggers
inspiration.

Muse is about intense connection; of people, passion and creative ideas. Muse is an
intelligent integration of three different themes. (1) A passionate love story runs
parallel to (2) the actors personal and company drama and (3) both realities are
re-evaluated through the internal creative thoughts of the director – a unique insight
exploring the intellectual, emotional and instinctive choices made during a creative
process.

Muse is a series of evolving narrative scenes, creative ideas, imaginings and personal
experiences. We see how inspiration drives the fictional that affects the personal that
impacts on the theoretical and redefines the dramatic. Are the characters in love? Are
the actors in love? What inspires brilliant acting? The director provokes the actors, the
actors provoke each other. The actors exchange stories, roles, personalities, characters,
thoughts, feelings, intimacy, connections and movements. Everyone is a director, an
actor, a lover. Everyone sings and dances, everyone confesses. Who is playing whose part?
Who is speaking when? Is what we are seeing life or work or thoughts? For the maker
everything is material. Exactly like the creative process Muse is often chaotic, messy
and disorganised. At other times it’s beautifully focused and intimate. For 90 minutes,
the space is the chaos of the makers mind.
